The Ghost Hunters

The Ghost Hunters television show is one of my favourite paranormal shows to watch. Ghost Hunters is a paranormal investigative show which stars Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson who started TAPS, the Atlantic Paranormal Society.

The TV show premiered back in October of 2004 on the Sci Fi Channel which has now since changed its name to the Syfy Channel. Jason and Grant originally worked as Plumbers for Roto-Rooter and did their investigating at night and on weekends and the original shows would actually show them doing their plumbing jobs and receiving calls regarding a new case to investigate.

The pair along with other investigators now Ghost Hunt full time. When Ghost Hunters was aired solely on Sci Fi it pulls in some of the highest ratings on that channel. The show is now aired on NBC Universal, Oxygen and OLN in Canada.

I enjoy watching Ghost Hunters because I truly believe the show to be real and that there is no acting and that when there are paranormal or other occurrences they are real and not set up.

The crew and show have been accused many times that what they are seeing or hearing is fake but TAPS ensures that everything that happens on their show is real not fake.

One thing I like about this Ghost hunting show is that the crew always tries to see if they can dismiss and give an explainable reason for whatever might have happened whether it is a strange light or noise and sometimes even a human image.

How the show works

The format of the show is great and goes like this. The TAPS crew shows up at the place to be investigated meeting with the owner or an employee and is shown around the premises and all of the hot spots are pointed out.

Hot spots are the areas where there has been some sort of unexplainable activity. Once the crew gets the tour they decide where to set up equipment to video tape and record sounds.

Once that is completed they shut the lights and power off and equipped with digital recorders, digital thermometers, EMF detectors, night vision cameras they split up to investigate the area.

Sometimes they take turns entering the building especially if it is a smaller location like a home.  Once TAPS has investigated the site for most of the evening and into the early morning they wrap things up and pack up all of their equipment and head back to the hotel they are staying at unless they are lucky enough to be investigating close to home.

Over the next few days they go through all of the hours of video and audio footage looking for evidence of anything unexplainable. After gathering that data they bring what they have found if anything to their contact at the location investigated and present them with the evidence if they found any.

They offer any help they can in helping the residents learn how to deal with the situation.

Then they are off to the next location. If you can’t get enough of Ghost Hunters you can also catch Ghost Hunters spinoff show Ghost Hunters International which has a different mix of people who go out investigating some very old castles and homes.

Bulverde I really enjoy Ghost Adventures as well. Especially watching big Aaron getting the crap scared out of him all the time haha. It's a great show as well. Thanks for commenting.

I have really enjoyed watching Ghost Hunters but I have fallen away from them a bit and went to Ghost adventures. I feel that Ghost Adventures is a little more personal with only the three of them getting locked into the establishments. Ghost Hunters has gotten a little too big for me with all the additional crew they have taken on. Don't get me wrong, Ghost Hunters is still a great show, I guess I just like the three from Vegas tearing it up.

Great information on your Hub, really enjoyed reading your material. Thank you for a very useful Hub.

You did an excellent job in describing this show, which is my favorite, and I watch it(even the reruns) every week.

And I agree--some of these type of shows can be fake, but I honestly don't believe that Ghost Hunters is.

Thanks for a great read! :)

In person, no, GW, unless it's the ghost of a famous pirate telling me where he hid his treasure! :)

drbj ha ha you mean you don't want to see a ghost in person?

saddlerider I am with you. I am interested in everything we don't understand yet. I think Ghost Hunters is all real. Not every show has evidence of paranormal activity. Thanks for commenting.

Anything Ghostly, paranormal, aliens, mysticism, dimensions, full disclosure. I am interested in, they do walk amongst us and we definitely are not alone. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, some of these t.v. shows can be interesting, but I wonder how many are fake?
