How do 3D Televisions work

By

How does 3D work is the question

3D technology is growing exponentially and for good reason. If you are looking for a way to improve your experience at home while watching the latest Blu-Ray then why not watch it in 3D?

3D TV’s are already dropping a bit in price as are 3D Blu-Ray players. Still a bit more expensive than regular LCD, LED and PLASMA TV’s they are definitely worth the money if you enjoy watching a lot of movies.

If you have yet to experience what the 3D TV’s are like then get yourself down to your local electronics store to check them out.

Once you experience this exciting technology you will be hooked. Yes you still have to wear 3D glasses but they are not the paper ones you used to get in the movie theatre years ago.

They are not the circular polarized ones you currently get in the theatres which look like cheap sunglasses. Your new 3D television works with LCD Shutter Glasses.

To get a 3D recording a camera with two lenses records the same image at slightly different angles with both recordings overlapping each other giving a 3D effect.

The cameras have two lenses just like you have two eyes. Your two eyes give you depth perception. If you don’t believe me try functioning for a day with one eye covered, even better try playing a sport with just one eye.

The image that was recorded is shown on a 3D capable screen which is your television and the trick now is to view that image because you do need a pair of 3D glasses.

Don’t worry some day in the years to come I am positive you will be able to enjoy 3D without glasses but until then let’s enjoy this technology.

So if you are watching the current technology you are going to want to get yourself a really good pair of active LCD Shutter glasses.

Here is the easy to understand explanation of how 3D TV’s and 3D glasses work together to give you an incredible 3D experience.

Your shutter glasses actually have shutters in them blackening one eye or the other very fast so that you don’t notice but do notice the 3D effect on your TV.

Your glasses work in unison with your TV which has an emitter that sends signals to the glasses keeping them in sync with the Television. So the emitter in the TV controls your 3D glasses.

That is about the easiest way to explain how your glasses pick up the 3D signal from the TV. When buying glasses and 3D TV’s I think it is important to buy the components with the highest refresh rates that you can afford.

You will also have to make sure you have a 3D Blu-Ray player to play 3D movies. A regular Blu-ray player will not work.

You can even purchase 3D ready stereo receivers in case you are running your HDMI’s from your Blu-Ray player through your receiver and then out to your TV.

If you are running your HDMI from your Blu-Ray to your TV then you don’t require a 3D receiver although if you are spending the money on TV’s and Blu-Rays then why wouldn’t you finish your system off with a nice 7.1 or 7.2 system speakers and all.

I hope I have helped you understand how 3D works for the new 3D TV’s.

I know I gave a very simple explanation but most people only want to know what they need to know to make choices when buying equipment and not much more.
