Everything you need to know about losing weight can be found right here on this page and in Part 2 of this Hub series on weight loss.

Losing weight is not hard at all. It is all about commitment and perseverance. It is also about knowing how to go about losing weight without any gimmicks or tricks.

The fact is that there are no tricks secrets or gimmicks in losing weight. It is all about knowing a few things about how your body controls weight.

The human body is an incredible machine and can and will adapt to anything you throw at it.

The key to losing weight without putting on your new super duper lose weight quick exercise suit and jumping on your new expensive treadmill that shows your fat percentage and tells you how many calories you are burning while also cheering you on while you walk or run for endless miles is to get your incredibly smart human body to let go of fat stores.

The human body tries to hold on to fat stores if it thinks for any reason it might need them in the future no matter what your brain tells it.

So what the heck am I talking about here? If you are still reading then you must really be serious about losing weight so let me tell you.

It is quite easy actually if you know a bit about how the body works in regards to weight management.

When losing weight there are two things you need to focus on before exercise or anything else if you truly want to lose weight successfully.

#1 is eating fewer calories (most days) than your body requires in a day but not going to low with your calories.

#2 is spreading those calories out throughout the day.  So let’s dig a little deeper and find out what it really means to eat less calories and spread them out throughout the day to make sure you have great and instant success.

Once you know what it really means and how your body reacts it is easier to manipulate your body to do what you want.

Eating fewer calories than needed in a day shouldn’t be that hard to grasp right? If you eat more calories in a day than what your body requires to function your body will store the excess as fat.

If you eat less calories than required your body will not be able to get what it needs from the foods you are eating so it will hopefully mostly use your fat stores for what it needs, therefore causing you to lose weight.

Easy right? Ok but what if you eat way too little in a day? Well your body’s metabolism will slow down. It will slow down because it is trying to preserve your fat stores for energy for another day because now it is reacting to the small amount of food you ate.

What that means is that your body will hold onto your fat in order to survive. Your body goes into a starvation mode whether you want to or not. The trick is to eat just enough so your body will be okay with releasing some fat stores.

How often you eat comes into play which we will talk about in #2 and how much you eat in a day. The amount to eat is debatable depending on who you ask so I will tell you from my experience on successful weight loss.

Everything is better in the world of weight loss if done at a slow and steady pace. So losing a pound a week is the way to go I think. In one year you will have lost 52 pounds if you had that much to lose.

It has also been proven that people who lose weight slowly are more likely to keep the weight off because the weight loss has because more of a lifestyle than just a quick weight loss program.

Make sense? Good. Okay so to lose a pound in a week you need to cut your calories required in a day by 500. A pound of fat is created by an excess of 3500 calories therefore to lose 3500 calories in one week you need to cut out 500 calories a day for 7 days.

So if you require 2000 calories a day to maintain your current bodyweight you want to cut back to 1500 calories a day.

If you are exercising also then you don’t have to cut out 500, you can cut out 300 and then it won’t even seem like you are dieting. You will burn calories from your workout to make up the rest.

We aren’t done yet though. Like I said before your body is very smart and will adapt to these new numbers which will eventually slow down if not stop your weight loss. So what to do next.

What I suggest to people is to change up the amount of calories you get every day over a 7 day period so you are still cutting out 3500 calories a week but not always 500 a day.

I am going to suggest you cut out 500 calories a day for the first couple days then cut out 600 the third, the fourth day cut out 400, fifth cut out 500 again, sixth and seventh cut out 700 then only 300 on the seventh.

If you are working out you can cut out less calories as the exercise will burn extra calories.

Actually if you are exercising one or two days A week you can even eat 200 or so more calories than you need which will trick your body into thinking there is no problem in getting calories and it will be that much easier to get it to release the fat. To make this way of taking in calories to lose weight work for you, you need to apply PART 2 of my “The secret to losing weight” series or the information in this Hub will not work as well for you as it really should.

To find out how many calories you need you can search on the internet for a calorie calculator and if you need help figuring out how many calories are in the food you are eating you can also search the internet for that information too.

Of course though I will make it a bit easier for you.

I have searched for a Daily Caloric Expenditure calculator for you which can be found right here http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/calories-burned.php

For counting calories I found this website which looks pretty good http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/

I like to have books on hand to help me figure out calories. You can find some reasonably priced calorie counting books at Amazon.com.
