What Should You Sell on EBay?
71What should I sell on eBay is the question. It is probably easier to find what you want to sell once you decide than it is for most people to actually decide on the exact items they want to sell.
I found it hard at first to decide on what direction I was going to take. There are many suppliers willing to sell you product from all over the world. You can even find items in your home town to sell if you want to go that way.
Maybe you like to craft and have decided to create your own items for sale. Something you will want to take into account when trying to find your niche is to find something you can afford to buy in bulk to get the best pricing possible.
You need to find a good supplier that will be in business hopefully as long as you want to sell that product, whether online or somewhere you can actually go to pick up your supplies. Will you have enough space in your home to store what you’re selling?
You not only need to have space for your product but you need room for your packaging supplies for shipping.

You can pick whatever you want to sell on eBay. I decided I wanted to sell small items that I could purchase at cheap prices and be able to store quite a few items in a relatively small space in my home.
So I went with fashion jewellery and novelty items. I think it is a great idea to sell something that you actually like yourself. You will feel better about selling it.
When I decided I wanted to sell jewellery I searched for jewellery manufacturers and wholesalers online. Once I found a few I thought I would order from I searched for info on them on the internet to make sure their websites were not a scam.
I have a friend who ordered product from China and paid using a bank draft. Long story short he is now short a couple grand. If a website uses PayPal then I would think you are safe to order from that site.
Something I can recommend is do not keep changing your mind about what you want to purchase and resell. Decide on something and stick to it.
You might find different variations of your item and that is fine as it just gives you that much more to sell. If you are going to be successful on eBay you have to pick a niche and work in that niche.
If you keep jumping around from jewellery to clock radios to hair products or incense you are not going to make as much money as you would if you just focused on one niche.
So when deciding on what you should sell on eBay make sure you take into consideration the cost of ordering inventory and the supplies needed to ship that inventory out.
Pick a niche that you are interested in and can be motivated about. Do your research when deciding on a supplier. Pick a niche and focus on it, don’t jump around or you will lose time and money.
Some might be successful jumping around but my experience in the short time I have been selling on eBay is to stick to one niche and post as many listings as you can.
Make a presence for yourself and you will have your own little piece of the pie on eBay.
Good luck deciding on what to sell on eBay and making those sales.

I agree with using PayPal or some other form of safe payment especially dealing with China.
In terms of stuff to sell, I usually start out with real local wholesale companies (either in your city or surrounding cities). That way you can pick up your stuff yourself, return things, resolve any issues much easier. For a marketing perspective, you want to sell what your customers want and if you like what you sell, it's all the more better.
I've been an Ebay seller for about 13 years. I always have listings going. It's a great site and now it's even easier to sell and list using an iPhone that I figured out recently. Informative hub! Good info!
Grant, glad to share. It's called, yardsellr. There is no insertion fee, no fees for pics. They take a small percentage of the sale. It is signed into your facebook and tweeter account. I don't like the fact that they stress to put everything on your f.b. page, which really clutters up your f.b. I have stopped doing that and I assusme I'm not getting as much exposure. The site is really easy to use. I've been a member for a few weeks and sold three things, which really isn't that great. One item I was asked if I would take less and I did. I'm really interested in Ebid.net. I actually signed up for their site last night.
I am in the process of writing about my experiences of being a seller on Ebay. I started in 2000, left it for awhile, went back in 2008 and left again in 2009. When I left the last time I vowed never to sell again. I was very disgruntled due to their feedback system. I am now selling on a different online site, but still think about Ebay. I enjoyed reading this hub.
Great hub! I like your advice 'decide what you want to sell and stick to it.' Very true (unless it's not selling I guess :)
Thanks for the info I may try eBay and get rid of some collectables...

got2share thank you. Yes PAYPAL is a must in my mind. That's a gret tip on buying local. I have thought about looking around my city for a wholesaler I would be interested in dealing with. Have to make that a must do this year. Thanks for sharing.
